US House delegation watches helicopters spray a marijuana field in Magdalena

A study mission of the United States House Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control reported that on Sunday 4 August 1985 its delegation made a field inspection of marijuana eradication in Magdalena Department, in Colombia's North Coast region. The committee wrote that a working party landed at a site where aerial herbicide spraying had killed the marijuana and watched helicopters spray a marijuana field nearby. It reported that about 2,500 hectares had been sprayed with glyphosate in Colombia by early August 1985.
