JSTOR is a digital library of academic journals, books and primary sources operated by ITHAKA, a not-for-profit organisation. Each item carries a stable identifier that forms a persistent link to its page in the archive.
A JSTOR identifier is a number with no check digit and is the final element of a stable URL of the form https://www.jstor.org/stable/<id>. Metadata and, for many items, a first-page preview are openly available, but access to the full text usually requires a participating institution or a personal account.
