Discussion
Sources
- The Shanghan lun, Song edition, as transcribed on Chinese Wikisource (clause 177, juan 4, chapter 7), gives the nine drugs, the weights, the wine-and-water decoction and the second name fumai tang.
- Cheng Wuji's annotated text (Siku quanshu, juan 4) has the same nine drugs.
- The Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal gives the Donguibogam version in grams, as a single dose, with the decoction method and the indication.
Source conflicts
- The Song edition writes the seed 麻仁 and the ophiopogon half a jin; Cheng Wuji writes 麻子仁 and half a sheng. The article gives both.
- The Korean portal writes the name 灸甘草湯 (moxibustion 灸) where the Chinese texts have 炙 (roasted). The drugs and the indication are the same, so the page treats it as the same decoction.
Is it cannabis?
- 麻仁 / 麻子仁 is the seed of 大麻 (see Maziren wan). The Korean portal names the drug main (麻仁) and indexes it under Cannabis sativa, Cannabis Fructus.
Title
- Pinyin of 炙甘草湯 without tones. Redirects: Fumai tang (the text's own second name), Gugamchotang (the Korean portal's spelling) and the Chinese characters.
Kind and plant part
- Traditional medicine. Seed.
- Still made: not known. The sources cited do not show it in use today.
