Discussion
Why the area is mapped
- Aydoğan and co-authors (2020, pp. 37, 42–43) studied the district as the only area in Turkey growing industrial hemp in 2018–19: 58 growers, with fieldwork in Narlısaray.
- Başer and Bozoğlu (2020, p. 130) report contract seed production of the Narlısaray variety on 127 decares at Narlısaray in 2019. Clarke (2023, p. 9) gives about 400 hectares around Vezirköprü in 2000 and four hectares in 2015.
Growing status
- The status is Active: hemp was grown here in 2000, 2015 and 2018–19, under licence, for fibre and seed.
How the border is drawn
- The border is Vezirköprü district in OpenStreetMap (administrative relation 1722709), simplified, about 1,640 km². The sources name the district and one village in it.
- The map point (41.14, 35.45) is Vezirköprü town.
Sources
- Aydoğan and co-authors (2020) were read in the parts on the district (pp. 35–38, 42–43) and the rest scanned; Başer and Bozoğlu (2020) and Clarke (2023) were read in full.
- Bloomberg HT (11 July 2021) reports the registration of the Narlı and Vezir varieties by Ondokuz Mayıs University and the Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute. It does not say whether either was bred from seed of Narlısaray or Vezirköprü, so the article does not connect the names to the district.
