Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The collection label records Dehra Dun, United Provinces, collection number 48, U. Singh and the year 1928. It supplies no habitat, cultivation status, common name or use. Neither the collection locality nor the later determination of the plant shows whether it was cultivated or spontaneous, so the accession is classified Unknown. No conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The label records Dehra Dun in the United Provinces. Current district sources identify Dehra Dun as the earlier form of Dehradun, now in Uttarakhand; the infobox uses the current spelling and administrative hierarchy. The label names the city but not a collection point within it, so the coordinate is Dehradun's own point in OpenStreetMap (node 299531301), 30.33, 78.04, used as a locality georeference rather than as a reconstructed collection point. No elevation is recorded.

The coordinate georeferences the place the label names, at two decimal places, with the mapped object named above. The point locates this sheet to about 5 km, and the article's prose is unchanged. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 5 km. Éloise 06:11, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

The collector is retained as U. Singh because the label and institutional record supply only that initial and surname. The label's California Botanical Garden heading is reported as source provenance; the physical sheet is held by the New York Botanical Garden.

Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 19:18, 16 September 2026 (+07)

Sequence data

The infobox lists BioSample SAMEA112688681 as the same lot as this accession because the tissue was taken from this sheet:

  • its specimen_voucher attribute is NY:1414441, the catalogue number of this sheet at the New York Botanical Garden;
  • its occurrence_id attribute, 10fbcc3d-c75a-406b-82fa-a79876f8b316, is the occurrence identifier GBIF publishes for that sheet;
  • its ref_biomaterial link is the holder's own page for the sheet (http://sweetgum.nybg.org/science/vh/specimen_details.php?irn=2045242);
  • its collector and date (U. Singh, collector_number 48, 1928) are the sheet's;
  • its source_material_description reads Leaflets removed from original specimen voucher.

The article reports what the archive's entries say about the sampling and the sequencing, and no analysis of the data. Éloise 04:29, 5 October 2026 (+07)

Other sheets

Three sheets are catalogued with the same collector, number and year: LA00672537 and a second LA sheet (GBIF 5139191476, GBIF 6502289386) and IBSC 602899 (GBIF 4042677412). The two LA entries give Dehra Dun in the United Provinces, as this sheet's label does; the article names all three as other sheets of the gathering. One LA entry gives the collector's forename as Umrao; the collector field keeps the label's U. Singh.

These notes were recorded during accession preparation. Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 05:02, 16 October 2026 (+07)
