Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The label places a cannabis plant at the confluence of the Pech and Kunar rivers in June 1935. It names no habitat, use or local name and does not say whether the plant was cultivated, escaped or wild, so the accession is classified Other. A single sheet does not establish a landrace or a continuing population. No conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
No image of the sheet is published: JACQ's image service has none for it, and GBIF lists no media. The label has therefore not been read here. The article quotes Vienna's own transcription of it, the catalogue's Label field, and says so.
Georeferencing
The coordinate is Asadabad (GeoNames 1148311, 34.873113, 71.14697), stored as 34.87, 71.15. Ischaghan-Serai is read as Chaghasarai, the former name of Asadabad: GeoNames gives Chagha Serai and Caghasaray among its names, and the label's Tetsch is read as the Pech, which joins the Kunar at Asadabad. The SRTM 30-metre elevation at the stored point is 818 metres, against the label's ca. 820 m. The label names the town and the confluence, which locate the gathering to the town.
Editorial treatment
The locality field takes the present-day name, Asadabad; the article quotes the label's Ischaghan-Serai. The scientific name field takes the name the sheet is filed under, Small's 1975 determination. The collector field takes A. Scheibe, the catalogue's form. The catalogue's date, 1 June 1935, falls on the first of a month, and no image is available to show whether the label carries a day; the date is stored as catalogued. Arnold Scheibe (1901–1989) took part in the German Hindu Kush expedition of 1935, which fits the date. The collector's full name in the article is the person Vienna's catalogue links the collector to (Wikidata Q696087, Arnold Scheibe).
The sheet was sampled in 2018 for Christopher J. Grassa's herbarium-genomics project; the catalogue's note reads Leaf tissue removed for DNA for C.F. Grassa 2018. None of the 1,444 public BioSamples of Cannabis sativa whose voucher field names a herbarium sheet (NCBI, read in early October 2026) names this sheet's catalogue number, so no sequence data is listed in the infobox.
