Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Dakshinkali, RSC's overview of its Himalayan landraces and the Kwik Seeds listing, which carries the same text. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listing gives RSC as the source, Makwanpur as the place and the winter 2021 harvest as the date. It names no village or farmer. It establishes that RSC distributes seed of this population from that harvest and reports the seed's falling viability. It does not establish the size or current status of the source population. The conservation priority is Medium; the basis is below. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)

Georeferencing

RSC names Makwanpur and "the highlands south of Kathmandu" and gives a latitude of 27° N. The coordinate is the label point of Makwanpur District in OpenStreetMap (relation 4589415), rounded to two decimal places: 27.44, 85.06. It marks the district, not a collection site. The point lies near the district headquarters at Hetauda. Makwanpur District is in Bagmati Province. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

  • Accession ID. RSC-NPL-BAG-0120210001 uses NPL, the ISO 3166-1 code for Nepal, as the other RSC accessions use ISO codes. The Zomia accession prefix ZOM-NEP uses NEP. BAG is taken from Bagmati Province. The month digits are 01, as on the other RSC accessions, because "winter 2021" gives no month.
  • Name. The listing's title, Dakshinkali, is kept in the descriptive name although the seed comes from Makwanpur. OpenStreetMap places Dakshinkali itself in Kathmandu District. RSC's Himalaya overview uses the name for a Nepali ganja landrace type.
  • Collector. Angus, following the other accessions RSC sourced itself.
  • Viability. RSC's germination figure of about 60 to 70 per cent is entered as Marginal.
  • Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type" is entered as growth pattern Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001. "Narrow-leafleted" is entered as Narrow. The purpose "ganja (bud) and garda charas (sieved resin)" is entered as Ganja with the resin in the processing notes, because the processing-method property takes one value. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them.
  • Image. The listing's only photograph is filed as Lamjung-Nepali-Mountain-Ganja. The file name may refer to a plant from Lamjung, but the listing presents the photograph for this line. It is used with a caption that gives the file name. Éloise 02:50, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Conservation priority

Medium. RSC's posts of April 2023 and April 2024 describe this "mountain ganja" type as cultivated in alpine regions around Kathmandu and west toward Pokhara, and name two RSC accessions of it, Dakshinkali and Nepalese Mountain Ganja. Neither listing states rarity. RSC states no conservation priority of its own, so the rating is the wiki's, on the four values it uses for accessions: Critical, High, Medium and Low. Éloise 21:05, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Source discrepancies

None. The Kwik Seeds listing carries the RSC text word for word. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds three versions of the RSC listing, from June 2025 to January 2026. All were read, and all match the current text, including the discount note and the germination test. Éloise 02:50, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Photographs

The infobox image is the listing's only photograph, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The listing does not say where or when it was taken. The face of the person in it was already masked in the listing. Éloise 02:50, 17 September 2026 (+07)
