Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for this line and on the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings give the region (the humid highlands of the north on RSC now; Ambanja District on Kwik Seeds and on RSC in April 2026), a latitude of 14° S, the supplier (Tody Seeds) and the year 2025. They name no village or farmer. They establish that RSC lists seed of this population and describes its phenotypes. They do not establish the collection site or the current status of the source population. The mould resistance and the cultivator reports are RSC's statements. Georeferencing

The Kwik Seeds listing, and the RSC listing as archived in April 2026, name Ambanja District; RSC gives a latitude of 14° S, which the district matches. The coordinate is the label point of Ambanja District in OpenStreetMap (relation 19552501), rounded to two decimal places: −13.82, 48.55. It marks the district, not a collection site. OpenStreetMap places the district in Diana Region, which is entered as the province.

Kwik Seeds says the variety is cultivated in the "Sambarino Highlands". No feature of that name was found. OpenStreetMap maps the Sambirano river (relation 1154522) through Ambanja District, so the name is probably a misspelling of Sambirano. The article quotes the listing's spelling and does not link it. Editorial treatment

Accession ID. The Madagascar accessions take the province code from the region the listings name: DIA (Diana Region) for the North line and ANO (Anosy Region) for the South line. The East, Southeast and Southwest listings name no place below a compass region, so those three use UNK, as on RSC-COD-UNK-0119900001. Within UNK the serials follow year and then RSC's listing order: Southwest (2025) is 0001; East and Southeast (2026) are 0001 and 0002. The month digits are 01, as on the other RSC accessions, because the listings give no month.
Name. Dzamal is the name the listings give the line. Neither RSC nor Kwik Seeds glosses it, so no local name is entered.
Collector. Left blank. The listings name Tody Seeds as the source and do not say who collected the seed.
Sourcing type. Point of Origin, because the listings describe seed collected in Madagascar, not seed reproduced elsewhere. The supplier is named in the article.
Phenotype names. maintsoa and sakai or parasy are reported as the listings give them. Neither says which language or community uses them.

Source discrepancies

Collection area. RSC: "collected in the humid highlands of the north". Kwik Seeds: "collected in the highlands of Ambanja District".
Growing area. RSC: "cultivated in a highland region with a highly variable and often rainy climate". Kwik Seeds: "cultivated in the Sambarino Highlands, a region with a highly variable and often rainy climate".
Archived version. The Wayback Machine holds one version of the RSC listing, from 21 April 2026. It reads "collected in the highlands of Ambanja District" and "cultivated in the Sambarino Highlands", as Kwik Seeds does. The current RSC wording replaced both after that date.
