Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Lao Gold, the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line, RSC's Southeast Asia category page and two RSC blog posts (May 2022 and September 2023). Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings date the collection to 2026 and place it in southern Laos; they name no province, village or farmer. The account of Phu Thai ganja culture is RSC's and has not been checked against other sources; the article attributes it. The grower's report first appears on the listing in October 2022, when the seed on sale was of the February 2020 collection, and the listing does not say which collection the grower grew. Georeferencing

The listings name only Laos and southern Laos, and give a latitude of about 16.5° N. So that the accession appears on the map, the coordinate is the midpoint of the country's extent along 16.5° N in OpenStreetMap (relation 49903, full polygon; 104.77° E to 106.89° E), rounded to two decimal places: 16.50, 105.83. OpenStreetMap places that point in Phin District, Savannakhet Province. It is an inference from the listings, not a collection site, so the province field stays blank and the region code is UNK.

RSC's listing for Lao Sa names Savannakhet as the source of its Lao Gold parent plants, from accessions of 2019 to 2022, and the inferred point falls in that province. The listing for this collection does not name it, so no province is entered. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-LAO-UNK-0120260001: UNK because the listings name no province. The month digits are 01, because the sourcing line gives only the year.
• Growing region. Southern Laos, the existing growing region whose page runs from Vientiane south to Champasak, from the listing's "southern Laos".
• Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself.
• Height. Maximum 2 m, from "Approx. 2 metres"; no minimum is entered, because the listings give a single figure.
• Planting and harvest. August to September and February to March, the regional pattern the listing describes.
• Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type architecture" is entered as growth pattern Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001. Kwik Seeds carries that characteristics line; the current RSC listing does not.
• Conservation priority. High: the listings describe one cultivation centre in southern Laos and name no village, the seed comes from RSC alone, and its September 2023 post reports that the stock then arriving came from a single farmer. The ratings follow the accession definitions in authored/planning/DESIGN.md: Critical rare, from a single farmer or micro-population; High limited population, few sources; Medium moderate population, multiple sources known; Low common, broadly available within its range.
• Not entered. Leaf shape, because the grower describes narrow leaflets at the top of the plant and moderate width lower down.
• Links. Sakon Nakhon Province, Savannakhet Province, the Phu Thai and Thai stick are linked as committed future pages. Jack Herer is left unlinked.

Source discrepancies

• Region wording. RSC: "A classic Lao cannabis landrace from southern Laos". Kwik Seeds: "A first-class classic Lao landrace from arguably the most highly regarded cultivation centre of southern Laos", RSC's wording from August 2020 to April 2021.
• Regional harvest. RSC: "Approx. 5 to 6 months seed to harvest". Kwik Seeds: "late December to early January", RSC's line until August 2024.
• Growing period. RSC: "this a five to six-month strain". Kwik Seeds: "this a 6-month strain", RSC's line until August 2024.
• Characteristics. Kwik Seeds adds "Sativa-type architecture"; RSC dropped it in October 2025, when it also dropped the classification line.
• Only on RSC. The aroma range, the note that potency varies, the Jack Herer comparison and the grower's report.
• Photograph. RSC's blog post of May 2022 calls the listing's photograph a ganja field of its Lao Gold close to harvest in southern central Laos; its post of September 2023 calls the same file a photo from the farmer in southern Laos, about February 2020.

The Wayback Machine holds 21 versions of the RSC listing, from August 2020 to May 2026, and all were read. The listing has sold four collections under the same address:

• Sourcing. "Laos, Southeast Asia, February 2020" from August 2020 to January 2023; "February 2022" in June and July 2023; "February 2023" from September 2023 to January 2026; "(2026)" in the version of 14 May 2026 and in the listing as read on 17 September 2026.
• Height. "2 – 5 metres" from August 2020 to April 2021, "2 – 4 metres" from August 2021 to May 2022, "c. 2 metres" from October 2022 to March 2025 and "Approx. 2 metres" from October 2025.
• Classification. "C. sativa subsp. indica var. indica" from August 2020 to August 2024, and "semidwarf Sativa-type architecture" from October 2022 to March 2025, both for earlier collections. They are not used here.
• Discount note. The versions of October 2025 and January 2026 offered the seed at a discount as a "Winter 2022 harvest" whose viability may have dropped below 80 per cent, while the sourcing line read February 2023.

The infobox image and the gallery are the five photographs on the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The listing gives them no captions. The infobox photograph has been on the listing since its first archived version, of August 2020, and RSC's blog posts caption it twice: in May 2022 as a ganja field of its Lao Gold close to harvest in southern central Laos, and in September 2023, as a byte-identical re-upload, as a photo from the farmer in southern Laos about February 2020. The caption here follows the September 2023 post, which dates the photograph, and the Talk page records the difference in the region given. RSC masked the face of the person in that photograph with emoji. The four field photographs first appear in March 2025, when the listing sold the February 2023 collection, so their captions say only what they show; two of them have a face masked out.
