Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Lao Sa and the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). RSC dates the collection to winter 2024 and describes it as seed from the garden of a Lao friend, whose parent plants came from accessions of 2019 to 2022 from central and southern Laos and from plants already grown in that garden. The listings name no village, district or province, and no latitude beyond about 21° N. Kwik Seeds describes a different collection, of winter 2020, and its figures are reported as its own. Georeferencing

The listings name only Laos and give a latitude of about 21° N. So that the accession appears on the map, the coordinate is the midpoint of the country's extent along 21.00° N in OpenStreetMap (relation 49903, full polygon; 100.55° E to 103.06° E), rounded to two decimal places: 21.00, 101.81. OpenStreetMap places that point in Na Mo District, Oudomxay Province. It is an inference from the listing, not a collection site, so the province field stays blank and the region code is UNK. Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-LAO-UNK-0120240001: UNK because the listing names no province, and the month digits are 01, because "Winter 2024" gives no month. The year is RSC's, as on Hmong Hemp, where the two shops also differ.
• Type. Accession type General population and classification Landrace, following RSC's "Lao – Thai Cannabis Landrace". The population is a garden population assembled from several accessions, so autochtonous is No and seed sourcing is "Seeds are purchased/acquired from elsewhere and grown together with local genetics". No sourcing type is entered, because the listing describes neither a collection at a point of origin nor a numbered reproduction. This typing is the batch's main editorial call.
• Local name. Sa is entered as the listing transcribes it. The listing gives it as the Lao name for ganja rather than for this population, as the Greek kannàvi is entered on the Arcadian accession.
• Collector. Angus: the sourcing line is RSC's own.
• Height. Maximum 4 m, from RSC's "Up to 4 metres". Kwik Seeds' 2 to 4 m describes its winter 2020 collection and is reported in the prose.

Source discrepancies

• Sourcing. RSC: "The Real Seed Company, Laos, Southeast Asia, Winter 2024". Kwik Seeds: "Winter 2020", RSC's own line from March 2021 to January 2023.
• Parent accessions. RSC: "from 2019 to 2022 accessions". Kwik Seeds: "from 2019 to 2021 accessions", RSC's line from May 2022 to June 2023. Kwik Seeds also lacks the word "Lao" before "plants they already grow at home".
• Height. RSC: "Up to 4 metres". Kwik Seeds: "2 – 4 metres", RSC's figure until May 2024.
• Regional harvest. RSC: "Approx 5 to 6 months seed to harvest". Kwik Seeds: "December to March", RSC's line until May 2022.
• Name. RSC: "‘Sa’ (‘sah’) is the name most often used in Lao communities". Kwik Seeds: "‘Sa’ is the name Lao folks usually use", RSC's wording until January 2023.

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds 15 versions of the RSC listing, from March 2021 to March 2026, and all were read. The listing has sold four collections under the same address:

• Sourcing. "Winter 2020" from March 2021 to January 2023, "Winter 2021" in June 2023, "Winter 2022" from December 2023 to February 2025 and "Winter 2024" from July 2025.
• Parent accessions. "2019 accessions" to October 2021, "2019 to 2021" from May 2022 and "2019 to 2022" from December 2023. Burmese joins the list in May 2022.
• Height. "2 – 4 metres" until May 2024 and "Up to 4 metres" from February 2025.
• Photographs. The listing showed a placeholder until August 2021 and then a single photograph, of a different file, until May 2024. The five photographs it shows now, and the note that the field images show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid-July, first appear in February 2025, when the sourcing line read winter 2022. Photographs

The infobox image and the gallery are the five photographs on the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. RSC states that "The field images show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid July", so the captions of the field photographs give that latitude and month. The photographs and that note first appear in the archived version of 8 February 2025, when the listing's sourcing line read winter 2022; the line changed to winter 2024 by July 2025 and the photographs and note were kept. The listing does not reconcile the two, and this page draws no conclusion. Two of the photographs show people, one with the face turned away and one wearing sunglasses.
