Evidentiary scope

RSC's Bokeo #2 listing records an earlier Bokeo: "a distinct type from our earlier 'Bokeo' offering, hence the new number in the name". The sentence stands in all eleven archived versions of that listing, from 3 July 2022 to 14 May 2026, as "hence the new number" until 25 April 2025 and "hence the new number in the name" from 8 October 2025.

This page is the Bokeo that RSC gave away on 8 April 2021, on its blog and on Kwik Seeds the same day, as ex-stock freebie seed: "a ganja domesticate from the Mekong region of northern Laos", "c. 40% viability", "healthy plants with a delicate structure and heavily serrated leaflets". It is the only earlier Bokeo under that name: RSC quotes the name as 'Bokeo', which is what the 2021 announcements call the line, while the 2009 lot below was Bokeo Lao.

The line had no listing. The search was bounded, and its negative results are why this page is short:

• Of 446 archived /product and /product-category URLs on therealseedcompany.com, the only one containing "bokeo" is the one Bokeo #2 uses, first captured 3 July 2022.
• RSC's Southeast Asia category holds no Bokeo in any of the seventeen archived captures between 19 August 2019 and 20 May 2022. Bokeo #2 appears in the next one, of 2 June 2022.
• The pre-2019 site's catalogue has none in its twenty-nine archived captures (2009 to 2018), nor in its six Southeast Asia region captures (2009 to 2017), whose Lao and Thai lines were Golden Triangle Akha, Highland Thai, Thai Mix, Mango Thai, Mekong and Viet-Lao.
• Kwik Seeds has no Bokeo product in 3,356 archived URLs, and landrace.blog, RSC's blog before the WordPress shop, no Bokeo post in 1,126.
• Every archived Bokeo image on either shop sits under /wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ or /2022/06/, so there is no photograph of this line.
• RSC's live blog, 203 posts from 22 July 2019, mentions Bokeo in four; three of them are about Bokeo #2.
• SeedFinder's RSC breeder list, 41 strains, has no Bokeo entry.
• The Bokeo #2 listing does not sit on a numbered slug, and its page has been titled Bokeo #2 in every archived version, the first included. Its address did not once hold this line under an earlier name.

So "offering", in RSC's listing, was a giveaway rather than a catalogue entry, as far as the archive reaches. Éloise 07:38, 18 September 2026 (+07)

An earlier lot: Bokeo Lao, 2009

RSC's news of 3 June 2009, posted by angus on its pre-WordPress site, offered "Bokeo Lao" as one of three lines given away with orders of Kerala, Highland Thai or Thai Mix seeds, "all three with high viablity" [sic], and described it as "some jungle ganja seeds from nearby the Golden Triangle in Lao". That places it near the Golden Triangle, the border region whose Lao–Myanmar–Thai tripoint lies on Bokeo Province's western edge (OpenStreetMap relation 5831654).

Éloïse ruled on 18 September 2026 that this is a different lot from the 2021 ex-stock Bokeo, so none of it is in the article, which carries detail from the 2021 lot only. It has no page of its own because nothing more of it survives: the news index truncates the item mid-word ("- sma[...]"), and news.php?news_id=22, which holds it whole, has no capture in the Wayback index; the two homepage captures of 7 June 2009 carry the same truncated text. The item is on the source-hunt queue (authored/Source_Hunt_Queue_2026-08-11.md, section 8.8). Georeferencing

No source gives a latitude for this line, so the coordinate is inferred and marks no collection site. It is the midpoint of the extent of Bokeo Province's OpenStreetMap polygon (relation 5831654) along the province's own mid-latitude, 20.3071° N, whose crossings run from 100.0987° E to 101.2243° E: 20.31, 100.66, rounded to two decimal places, which is the precision the wiki's privacy policy calls for. OpenStreetMap places that point in Muang Houayxay, and the district is deliberately not entered in admin_2: it is an artefact of the inference, not something a source says, as on Kumaoni.

The point is not the one Bokeo #2 carries (20.28, 100.42, near the provincial capital). RSC calls the two lines distinct types and gives the later one a location of its own, so they do not share a map point. Éloise 07:38, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-LAO-BOK-0120210001. The month digits are 01, RSC's value for an unknown month.
• Year. No source dates the collection. The ID and the descriptive name use 2021, the first year in which RSC is attested with this seed (8 April 2021), following the ruling of 17 September 2026 recorded on Malawi Gold that the first attested year stands wherever a collection year is missing. The collection date field is left blank. A collection year found later means a page move.
• Two lots. The 2009 Bokeo Lao and the 2021 ex-stock Bokeo are different lots, on Éloïse's ruling of 18 September 2026; see the section above.
• Name. Bokeo General Population 2021, the collection form <Line> <Accession type> <Year> of the naming convention, section 8B.
• Province. Bokeo Province, as on Bokeo #2, ruled by Éloïse on 18 September 2026. RSC names this line Bokeo and glosses the name in its own listing as "the Bokeo region of northwest Laos". RSC never writes "Bokeo Province" of this line, and the 2021 announcements say only "the Mekong region of north Laos". The province is the level RSC names, as Kumaoni enters Kumaon and not its district.
• Not entered. Height, flowering time, aroma, effects, growth pattern and leaf shape, because nothing states them. sourcing_type and collector, because no source gives this line a sourcing line; the collector Angus on Bokeo #2 is not carried across. seed_storage_location, because RSC gave its last stock away in 2021 and no source says it still holds seed. seed_viability, because "c. 40%" has no home in the property's vocabulary (Viable, Marginal, N/A, Unknown) and picking one would be our reading rather than RSC's; the figure is in the article instead.
• Serration left blank. RSC's two announcements of the same day use different words: "heavily serrated" maps to Deep, "sharply serrated" to Sharp. The field takes one value, neither wording is a vocabulary term, and the sources do not settle it, so both wordings stay in the article and the field stays empty.
• Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; no source states either for this line, and RSC makes no purity claim about it at all, unlike Bokeo #2. autochtonous = Yes rests on RSC calling it a domesticate of the region it names. primary_purpose = Recreation and processing_method = Ganja rest on "ganja domesticate".
• Conservation priority. High. The ratings follow the accession definitions in authored/planning/DESIGN.md: Critical rare, from a single farmer or micro-population; High limited population, few sources; Medium moderate population, multiple sources known; Low common, broadly available within its range. One holder is known, RSC, which gave its last seed away as ex-stock at about 40 per cent viability and replaced the line with a different type rather than resupplying it, and no other source or holder was found. Bokeo #2, from the same province, is also rated High.
• Related accession. RSC-LAO-BOK-0120220001. It records a relation RSC asserts, a distinct type numbered after this one, not a parentage claim, so no lineage field is used and no -R1 suffix is in play. Éloise 07:38, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Source discrepancies

The two announcements of 8 April 2021 are the same announcement on RSC's two shops, and they differ:

• Laos. RSC: "the Mekong region of northern Laos". Kwik Seeds: "the Mekong region of north Laos".
• Viability. RSC: "Seeds tested c. 40% viability". Kwik Seeds: "Seeds are at around 40% viability".
• The plants. RSC: "producing healthy plants with a delicate structure and heavily serrated leaflets". Kwik Seeds: "producing vigorous plants with a delicate structure and sharply serrated leaflets".

The article uses both announcements and attributes each. Kwik Seeds has since removed its post (a 404 on 18 September 2026); the article cites the archived copy of 19 February 2025. Éloise 07:38, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Not used

A grow thread for this line ran on International Cannagraphic from 21 July 2021 (archived 17 October 2025), started by a member who had the seeds as Kwik Seeds freebies. Its observations are growers', not RSC's, so none of them is in the article. Its first post is worth one note here: it quotes RSC's April 2021 sentence and adds "Not much info on the RSC blog", which is consistent with there having been no listing to quote.
