Why the area is mapped

  • Divya Bhaskar of 1 October 2026 reports cannabis grown under cover of a cotton crop at Kotda Gadhi in Poshina taluka; ETV Bharat (English) reports the same case.
  • Divya Bhaskar of 3 October 2026 reports cannabis grown among cotton at Anjani in Poshina taluka; IANS (5 October 2026) reports Anjani and a second field at Kalikankar.
  • IANS (19 May 2026) reports green cannabis plants recovered from cultivated land at Vinchi, in the Wadi area of Poshina taluka, on 17 May.

Growing status

The status is Active: cultivation in the taluka is reported in 2026. No report from before 2026 was found; a December 2025 seizure at Lakhiya village, reported by Bombay Samachar, could not be read (the page did not load) and is not used.

How the border is drawn

  • The border is Poshina taluka in OpenStreetMap (administrative relation 9678749, which OpenStreetMap spells "Poshira Taluka"), simplified, about 390 km². It is a proxy: every report names the taluka.
  • The map point (24.36, 73.08) is near the centre of the taluka; the border is not drawn from it.

Sources

  • Each article cited was read in full. Plant counts, weights and values are the police's figures as the papers give them.
  • The village is spelt Vinchhi in the Gujarati reports and Vinchi by IANS; the article follows IANS, the English source it cites.

Where the sources disagree

  • Kotda Gadhi. Divya Bhaskar gives 345.6 kg; ETV Bharat gives about 346.6 kg. The article gives the plant count only.
  • Anjani. Divya Bhaskar and IANS give slightly different values for the seizure; the article gives the plant count only.
