Evidentiary scope

The label places the plant on the right bank of the Syr Darya, between the river and the railway station of Teren-Uzyak, in May 1930: В роще бл. аула. (in a grove near an aul). It gives no use and no note on cultivation. The printed heading names the bast-fibre trust that ran the expedition, not the place the plant grew, and the determination as Cannabis ruderalis is the collector's judgement from the specimen. The plant grew in a grove, outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population.

The day. Both readings give 25; the first allowed 23, the day the catalogue gives.
A pencilled 13… on the sheet below the label is partly hidden by the slips and is not used.
The stamped number 230027 near the barcode is a registration number of the herbarium, not a field number.
A pencilled 1973 in the lower right corner, in the hand seen on nearly every sheet of this series in the herbarium, says nothing about its purpose and is not used.

Georeferencing

The point 45.0333, 64.9274 is the position printed on the label, 45°02′ N and 34°36′ E of Pulkovo, counted from Greenwich by adding Pulkovo's longitude, 30°19′38.5″ E, which gives 64°55′38.5″ E. It lies in Syrdariya District, Kyzylorda Region, 5.4 km west-south-west of Terenozek railway station (OpenStreetMap node 2587843690), between the station and the Syr Darya, as the label's text says; the aul is not identified. SRTM gives 117 m; the label gives no altitude. The label states its position to the minute, about 1.8 km of latitude and 1.3 km of longitude. The herbarium's database publishes the point 45.029694, 64.978294, 4.0 km east of the label's position; it appears to convert the longitude with a slightly different offset for Pulkovo, and the label's own position is used. Basis: collection point from label. Uncertainty: about 2 km.

Editorial treatment

Date. The infobox stores 25 May 1930, the day both readings give; the catalogue's 23 May is set out below.

Place. Teren-Uzyak is Terenozek (Теренөзек); the province field takes Kyzylorda Region.

Collector. The collector and determiner fields take the catalogue's M. I. Nazarov, the label's М. И. Назаров. No source read for this page gives his full name, which is not linked.
