Identifier
The accession identifier is NPG-NPL-UNK-0020230003, built to the grammar in the project's naming reference: holder NPG (the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System), ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month and year of collection, sequence. The entry gives no collection date, so the date segment is month 00 and the year the genebank received the seed, 2023, and the descriptive name carries no year. The sequence counts this holder's accessions with the same country, province and date. The genebank's own number is G 33754.
Sourcing
Everything on this page comes from the GRIN-Global entry, as it stood on 27 October 2026: the passport data, the source history and the donor's narrative. The narrative is the donor's own account of the seed, edited lightly by the curator. GRIN's collector field names Angus on every accession of this donation, including those whose narratives name someone else or nobody, so it is not used here. The entry says the accession was, or was attempted to be, included in the 2024 genome sequencing and phenotyping trial run by the USDA Agricultural Research Service with HudsonAlpha. It also carries the curator's notes and trial measurements from field trials in the United States. The article does not report them: they describe plants grown in those trials, not the population where the seed was gathered.
Place
The passport gives only Nepal as the origin. The narrative says the seed was bought in a bazaar at Gorkha and that the seller named Pokhara; neither is shown to be where the plants grew, so the infobox gives no province or locality, and the sourcing type is unknown provenance.
Classification
The infobox gives the classification as landrace. The donor's account of the plants is that of a ganja landrace; the entry's closing line still calls it a Himalayan multipurpose landrace, the donor's first reading.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The seed was bought at a bazaar in Gorkha, and the seller named Pokhara; the market is not the place the plants grew, and nothing in the entry ties the lot to a place in or around Pokhara.
