Evidentiary scope
The label records the plant as cultivated in a home garden in a settlement, and gives two uses: a spice and a smoked narcotic. It is a single gathering and shows neither a continuing population nor a living germplasm holding, so it supports neither a landrace nor a feral classification. The accession is classified Other. No conservation priority is assigned.
Cannabis as a spice is recorded on no other sheet in the Thai set.
Georeferencing
The label names a ridge, a subdistrict, a national park and a village. Ban Bah Gluay is the collector's romanisation of บ้านป่ากล้วย: OpenStreetMap maps Ban Pa Kluai in Mae Soi, Chom Thong District, at 18.34745, 98.57112, in the district the label names. The village stands at 1,394 m on SRTM against the label's 1,450 m, a gap of 56 m, and the two readings are independent, so the agreement is evidence that the identification is right. The infobox georeferences the village at 18.35, 98.57 as a locality point, not a reconstructed collection point; it places the gathering to within about 3 km. Entered under Tier A of the coordinate ruling of 18 September 2026. This supersedes the refusal recorded here on 23 September 2026, which rested on the spelling not resolving.
Editorial treatment
The label's vowels. The typewriter's o and e are hard to tell apart on this label. Jawm Teng may be Jawm Tong, Mae Sei may be Mae Soi, and the dropped vowel in the village's name reads as either. Harvard's cataloguer read Meng. The article gives the label's line with the uncertain vowel bracketed, and the district field holds Chom Thong, the district that contains a Mae Soi subdistrict and part of Op Luang National Park. That identification is a reading, not the label's own word: check it against a gazetteer before it is relied on.
Awp Luang is Maxwell's romanisation of the national park usually written Op Luang, and is quoted as he wrote it.
The accession is filed under Naturalis: its sheet is the one whose label can be read, and its image is free. Harvard's duplicate carries no image.
Source discrepancies
- Harvard reads the village as Meng Village where the Leiden label reads a dropped vowel that may be o or e.
- Naturalis and GBIF give the country as unknown and no locality for this sheet; the country, province, district and locality here are read from the label image.
