Identifier
The accession identifier is KHA-NGA-UNK-0120090001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.
- Holder segment
KHAstands for Khalifa Genetics. - Province segment
UNK, month 01, year 2009 are those of the parent, AFP-NGA-UNK-0120090001: a reproduction keeps the date of the collection it was grown from, and the parent's identifier takes its earliest dated listing (2009). No-R1suffix is used, because the holder code already differs from the parent's. - Sequence 0001 is the first Khalifa Genetics accession in this bucket.
- Descriptive name leads with the parent's year and the holder's acronym, as reproduction names do, then the company's product name.
- The company's own page has a publication date of 30 November 2022 in its page data (the Wayback Machine's earliest capture is of 8 February 2023). That dates the listing, not the collection, and is not used in the identifier.
Sourcing
Khalifa Genetics' own product page (https://khalifagenetics.com/product/nigerian-sativa/), read live on 12 October 2026 and in Wayback Machine captures of 8 February 2023 and 20 May 2024, all with the same description.
ACE Seeds' English listing (https://www.aceseeds.org/en/seeds/nigeria-regular-seeds/), read again on 12 October 2026. ACE Seeds stocks the line and its listing reproduces much of Khalifa Genetics' text. Its specification table (Type and Genetics rows, flowering times, bouquet) is ACE's own and is cited to ACE.
Typing
- Accession type: Reproduction; parent accession AFP-NGA-UNK-0120090001. The company says the line "was originally part of Afropips’ seed collection"; the parent page documents Afropips' Nigerian line.
- Classification: Other, as on the parent: "pure" and "landrace" are the sellers' words and are attributed.
- Sourcing type: Multi-generation reproduction. The company describes three reproduction runs of its own after the collectors' years of keeping the line; ACE labels the seed P4.
- Pollination type is left empty. The company's "controlled open pollinations" does not say whether the plants were left to pollinate freely within a controlled group or crossed by hand.
- Autochtonous: No. The seed was produced away from any source population.
- Cultivation status: Unknown. The company's page offered seed on 12 October 2026 (marked in stock). That says nothing about whether a source population is still grown.
- Traits. Flowering times, aroma and effects are the company's. ACE's indoor figure is also 10 to 13 weeks.
Source discrepancies
- Chain of custody. The company names no collector, and the link to Afropips rests on its own account ("acquired this African strain via the collector community"). No source says which Afropips lot, or how many generations the collectors grew.
- Flowering time. 9 to 11 weeks for Afropips' line (see the parent page); 10 or 13 weeks by phenotype for this seed.
Seller text not used
The page's sentence that "Most historians believe that cannabis was introduced into Nigeria at the beginning of the nineteenth century" is a historical claim in seller copy with no source and is not used.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The page is a reproduction, and no source names a place in Nigeria; the country comes only from the line's name, as on AFP-NGA-UNK-0120090001.
Conservation priority
Not rated here. A rating belongs to the source population, on AFP-NGA-UNK-0120090001.
