Evidentiary scope

The catalogue's habitat, Champs, décombres (et cultivé), names both places outside cultivation (fields, rubble) and cultivation, without saying which this plant was. The accession is classified Other, and is listed as a borderline case. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The point -28.87, 28.04 is the town of Hlotse, OpenStreetMap node 4418230668, in Leribe District. English Wikipedia (Hlotse) gives Leribe as the town's other name and places the French Protestant Leribe Mission beside it; the label's Léribé is taken as the town and the mission together. The Pretoria herbarium publishes the point -28.875, 28.125 for its sheet, the centre of a quarter-degree square, about 27 km across, 8.0 km from the town's node. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 5 km.

Editorial treatment

Two sheets, one accession. The Paris and Pretoria sheets share collector, number and place, and are treated as one gathering. The infobox takes the Paris catalogue's values.

Date. Neither catalogue gives a date. Dieterlen's other numbered sheets do not date this one: at Kew, numbers 90 to 151 carry dates from March 1913 to April 1915, while a Cape Town sheet numbered 182 is dated April 1939, so the numbers were used more than once. The title takes (s.d.) (no date), and no year is stored.

Image. No image of the sheet was read for this page; its values are the holder's catalogue's. The museum's image of the sheet is published under CC BY 4.0 but could not be retrieved for this page (GBIF's image cache does not hold it, and the museum's own server refused the connection); the label has not been read.

Sources not yet read

The Paris sheet's label: it may give a date, and the collector's own words for the habitat.
