Border

The border is the municipality of Chaparral (OpenStreetMap relation 1308619; DIVIPOLA code 73168), simplified; about 2,100 km². The point in the infobox is the centre of the border, not a field.

Sources

  • The status is Active: marijuana was eradicated in the municipality from 2011 to 2018, and the army reported plants growing at El Mirador in October 2017.
  • The Ministry of Defence's eradication dataset lists, for Chaparral with crop type marihuana: 19 rows, 17 December 2011 to 12 March 2018, 30.43 hectares (downloaded 20 October 2026). The figures on the page are sums of those rows.
  • The share of 18.4 per cent is from the University of Tolima bulletin (pp. 14, 16). The figure of more than 8,000 plants in the La FM report of February 2016 is one figure for Ataco, Chaparral and San Antonio together.
  • Not used: the opium poppy reported in the veredas of Maito, La Marina and La Virginia in the early 1990s (poppy is not cannabis); a stock of marijuana attributed to the FARC in 2008, with no crop named; seizures in transit.
