Evidentiary scope

This page was split from a single combined page on 23 September 2026, per Éloïse's ruling that a collection and a reproduction of it are separate accessions (RULINGS_2026-09-23.md). It now covers only the 2018 collection event (who collected the material, where, and when) and the geography of the place. The retail seed sold under the name Rasol Village, including the disputed question of how it was processed before sale, is now documented at 2018 COC Rasol Reproduction; see that page's talk page.

This page rests on Coco Genes' own listing (archived 27 February 2021; two later captures, 27 June 2022 and 13 July 2024, not separately cited), Khalifa Genetics' Rasol Village listing (live-fetched 18 September 2026, and its earliest archived capture of 13 December 2019), and one ICMag thread ("Rasoli") read via its 28 June 2023 archive. This session's own network cannot complete a TLS handshake with khalifagenetics.com; that is a local failure of this machine, not evidence the site is down — it answered HTTP 200 to the original research fetch on 18 September 2026 (see the lane brief). Source collection

Before 23 September 2026 this single page carried both the collection facts and the full retail-seed description (aroma, effects, flowering time, processing, structure). Éloïse ruled that the retail seed sold under the Rasol Village name is a separate accession from the 2018 collection event, the same treatment already applied to Kalga in this batch (COC-IND-HIM-0120200001-R1). Everything describing what growing the seed produces moved to 2018 COC Rasol Reproduction, including the material sourced from Coco Genes' own listing: its spec-table aroma/effect/flowering figures describe a grown plant, not the act of collecting, so they moved too, even though Coco Genes' own direct-sale channel is not itself part of the Khalifa/ACE/Mandala processing dispute (this is a packaging choice, flagged for Éloïse's review; see Talk:COC-IND-HIM-0120180001-R1). `related_accession` on this page is set to the new page's ID; `parent_accession` stays empty, since this is the collection, not a reproduction of something else. Editorial treatment

  • Accession ID. COC-IND-HIM-0120180001. Unchanged by the split. Khalifa Genetics states plainly and repeatedly (unchanged from a December 2019 capture to the live page) that the seed is "from the 2018 harvest", a real stated collection year, not a shop season category, so it is entered directly: ID tail 2018, collection_date = 2018 harvest. This reading is now treated as confirmed rather than merely flagged: today's drafting brief for the split explicitly instructs keeping "the 2018 stated year" on this page.
  • Locality. Rasol, matching the spelling used by nine existing ZOM-IND-HIM-092022* accessions and two 2025 lines. Neither Coco Genes' nor Khalifa's own page names a district, so admin_2 is empty even though several neighbouring Coco Genes listings (Grahan, Pulga, Lapash) do state Kullu District.
  • Collector. Left blank. Khalifa credits "Our friend at Coco Genes", which is the holder itself, already carried by seed_storage_location.
  • Sourcing type. Point of Origin, on Khalifa's "collected the seeds directly at source" and Mandala's "1st-generation seeds collected directly by Coco Genes at source". This is retained on the collection page because the act of collection in 2018 is not itself disputed by any source read for this line: even ACE Seeds' account, which describes further processing by Khalifa afterward, agrees the seed was first "collected... directly at source" from the 2018 harvest. The dispute is entirely about what happened next, which is why it belongs on Talk:COC-IND-HIM-0120180001-R1, not here.
  • Not entered. stem_color: Khalifa's "red stems" claim is not entered as a value because no wiki-wide controlled-vocabulary list for this field was confirmed during drafting; that claim, and the retail-seed characteristics generally, now live on COC-IND-HIM-0120180001-R1 rather than here.

Source discrepancies

  • What country the line is in. An ICMag poster in November 2019 quoted an unattributed product blurb: "Rasoli comes from the Nepalese Himalayan village of Rasol." A more experienced member replied in March 2020: "Rasol is a village in Parvati Valley, neighbouring Malana - India, in other words." Neither Coco Genes' nor Khalifa's own listing states a country in so many words; Khalifa's own page places the line among "cultivars from the Parvati Valley" and names Malana as a neighbour, which is consistent with the second reading, not the first. India is entered on that basis; the "Nepal" reading is recorded here, not in the article.
  • "Rasoli" as a name. Khalifa's own page uses "Rasoli" and "Rasol" for what reads as the same product within the same paragraph ("Our friend at Coco Genes collected the seeds directly at source... the Rasoli landrace still is purer than many other cultivars from the Parvati Valley"), and the ICMag thread discussed above is titled "Rasoli". This page treats "Rasoli" as Khalifa's own alternate name for this same accession. This is a separate matter from The Real Seed Company's own, unrelated product also called Rasoli: per Talk:Coco Genes (live), "The Real Seed Company sells Rasoli ('Sourcing: The Real Seed Company, Rasol, Indian Himalaya, 2021 Harvest')... No source read links any of them to Coco Genes." That RSC line is a third, separate accession again, not this one.
  • Whether the retail seed is unprocessed or a Khalifa-processed P2. No longer covered here: this is the discrepancy that motivated splitting the retail seed out to its own page. The full quotes and attribution are on Talk:COC-IND-HIM-0120180001-R1.

Possible duplicate / name collision

Per Talk:Coco Genes (live), quoted verbatim: "Seed from Rasol and Grahan sold by other holders belongs to separate accessions. The Real Seed Company sells Rasoli ('Sourcing: The Real Seed Company, Rasol, Indian Himalaya, 2021 Harvest'). Zomia Collective sells Rasol ('Sourcing: Eloise (2022)') and Grahan Valley ('Sourcing: Eloise (2022, 2023, 2024)'). No source read links any of them to Coco Genes." Nine ZOM-IND-HIM-092022* Rasol selections and two 2025 lines (Maya, Pawan) already exist; this accession is not asserted to be the same collection as any of them. Archived versions

Khalifa Genetics' Rasol Village page was checked from its earliest capture (13 December 2019) against the live page (18 September 2026): the sentences crediting Coco Genes and the 2018 harvest are unchanged across that span.
