Pawlow 618 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered in stony stream beds in the mountains of Mongolia on 9 July 1924 by N. V. Pawlow, a member of the expedition of P. K. Kozlov. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0175122.[1] The label's place names are not fully legible, and the place has not been located.
Collection and locality
The printed label reads N. Pawlow and Plantae Mongoliae. Expeditio P. Kozlowii (plants of Mongolia, the expedition of P. Kozlov). It is completed in pencil Cannabis sativa L. and a habitat line describing stony places in stream beds on a range of mountains, in the valley of a river whose name runs off the edge of the label. The date and number read 9-VII-24 г. N618, and a printed line leg. et det. N. V. Pawlow (collected and determined by N. V. Pawlow).[2] The catalogue gives the collector, the number, the date 9 July 1924 and the habitat line as СЗ. каменистые места в руслах ручьев на горах Цзаха в дол. р. Сучж.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a single slender plant pulled up with its roots, with palmate leaves of narrow leaflets and flowers along the upper stem.[2] Pawlow named it Cannabis sativa L., the name the catalogue records.[2][1]
