Shanghai General Population 1906 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Shanghai, China, on 28 April 1906 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 18451.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
The seed was one item in a miscellaneous collection of plants and seeds that Frank N. Meyer, the department's agricultural explorer, sent from Shanghai, received on 28 April 1906. The printed inventory's entry reads only "From Shanghai. (No. 247a.)".[2]
