Shinmintong General Population 1906 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from the Shinmintong district of Liaoning, China, on 29 May 1906 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 18632.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
The department's printed inventory lists the lot as hemp from the Shinmintong district of Manchuria, received through the Yokohama Nursery Company of Yokohama, Japan, on 29 May 1906. The company's note calls it "Manchurian hemp seeds produced in the district of Shinmintong".[2]
