Ghazni General Population 2020 is a seed accession of a cannabis landrace from Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, held by the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) as G 33705. Angus donated the seed, and the system received it on 22 August 2023.[1] The donor's note says the seed was collected by Landrace Genetics in the winter of 2020, from a farmer whose field appears in the entry's photographs.[1]
Collection Details
The note describes an Afghan landrace grown for dry-sieved charas and for seed as food. It points out that the farmer planted in close, dense rows, as a European farmer would sow a hemp cultivar, and takes photographs of large bushy plants set far apart in Pakistan or Afghanistan as a sign of Western influence and of a much higher risk of crossing with Dutch hybrids.[1]
