The field label, a typed Flora of China form of the Institute of Botany, National Academy of Peiping, its type faint, gives the number L. 4945, the date 5/8/1935, the locality Laochünshan, Lushih-hsien, Honan, an altitude of 6[·]0m. with the middle digit under a blot, the habitat Lieux incultes (French: uncultivated places), the flowers verdâtres (greenish) and the collector K.M.Liou. The label of the Herbarium Academiae Nationalis Pekinensis reads Honan: Lushih-hsien, Laochünshan, Aug. 5, 1935 and Leg. K.M.Liou (4945). Det. T.P.Wang.[3] The catalogue gives the collector, the number L.4945, the year and Henan.[1] The Yangling sheet carries the same form, on which the altitude reads 660m. clearly, and the same label.[4]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a stem with a large palmate leaf of nine to eleven narrow, serrate leaflets and a separate female fruiting raceme. The herbarium label names it Cannabis sativa L., determined by T. P. Wang.[3] The Yangling sheet carries large leafy stems with broad palmate leaves.[4] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
