Komarov s.n. is a herbarium accession of male plants of Cannabis sativa gathered in a hemp field at a place in Kamchatka that its label calls Ключи (Klyuchi), in today's Kamchatka Krai, Russia, on 26 June 1908, on the Kamchatka expedition of F. P. Ryabushinsky led by V. L. Komarov. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0062801.[1]
Collection and locality
The printed label is that of the Камчатская Экспедиция Ф. П. Рябушинского (Kamchatka Expedition of F. P. Ryabushinsky). It names the plant Cannabis sativa L. by hand, with the sign for a male plant, and the place as Ключи. Поле конопли (Klyuchi; a hemp field); its printed lines for the river basin and the zone are left blank, and the date reads 1908 г. 26/VI. The printed collector's line, Собрал В. Комаров. V. Komarov Iter Kamczaticum I., is followed by a second Собрал (collected by) in ink and a name that is not clearly legible. A second printed slip, headed КАМЧАТКА, repeats the place, the habitat and the date in pencil, with another name after its printed Сбирал.[2] The catalogue gives the collector as V. Komarov, the date, and a point that it marks as not taken from the label.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries five slender, unbranched stems with their roots, each with a few leaves and a small flowering top.[2] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L. and marks it male, the name under which the catalogue files it; no later determination slip is on the sheet.[2][1]
