1996 IUB Colombia Cl-2 Reproduction is a reproduction accession of Cannabis indica grown from seed recorded as coming from Colombia. It is known from one herbarium sheet that Karl W. Hillig made in 1996 from a plant grown in a greenhouse of Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana. The label gives Hillig's parallel code Cl-2 and names the seed source as a drug seizure by the police of Bloomington, Indiana. The herbarium of Indiana University holds the sheet as catalogue IND-0149617, with the university number 148879.[1]
Seed lot
The label reads Country of origin: Colombia and names no place within the country. It gives the seed source as Bloomington Indiana police dept. Monroe Co. Indiana drug seizure.[1] Hillig assembled his collection of 157 accessions of known geographic origin from cannabis breeders, researchers, germplasm repositories and law-enforcement agencies, each accession arriving as a small packet of seed.[2] The herbarium also holds Hillig's sheet of the other Colombian parallel code, IUB-COL-UNK-0019960001.
Grow-out
The label gives a germination date of 12 June 1996, describes the plant as 285 cm tall, very strong branching, veg. stem aroma and carries the line Used for morphometric analysis in 1996, rep. 1.[1] Hillig's terpenoid study, grown from the same collection, describes greenhouse plants raised one to a pot, with lamps lengthening the day to 16 hours during vegetative growth.[2]
Specimen and identification
The printed label names the plant Cannabis indica Lam. and adds the line Narrow-leaflet drug biotype, the narrow-leaflet drug type of Hillig's papers.[1]
