Hao 827 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Shangwuchuang, near Sining (Xining), in Qinghai (then labelled Kokonor), China, at 2,900 m on 3 August 1930 by K. S. Hao. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds a sheet as PE 00557979, and the Northwestern Institute of Botany in Yangling a second as WUK0001282.

Collection and locality

The field label is a typed Flora of China form of the Laboratory of Botany of the National Academy of Peiping. It gives the number Hao 827, the date 3/8/1930, the locality Shangwuchuang, Sining, Kokonor, the altitude 2900 m., the height 2 ft. and the collector K.S.Hao. The herbarium label repeats the place and date and reads Leg. K.S.Hao (827) Det. K.S.Hao. The catalogue gives the collector, number, year and Qinghai. The Yangling sheet carries the same form and label, and a tag numbered 827 in pencil.

Specimen and identification

The sheet carries three plants with roots: a leafy stem with palmate leaves, a long branch with many small flower clusters and a smaller flowering plant. The collector determined them as Cannabis sativa L. The Yangling sheet carries two male flowering stems. A second Yangling sheet from the same place and day, numbered 825 on its form and tag, is Hao 825 (1930).
