Edmondson 833 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in cultivation in the irrigated area of an oasis 10 kilometres west of Mooteh, 110 kilometres south of Qom in central Iran, at about 1,900 metres on 2 August 1971 by John Richard Edmondson. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds the sheet as E00405500.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The typed label, headed University of Leicester and Flora of Iran, reads Mooteh, 110 km S of QOM. Oasis 10 km W of village. Irrigated area; cultivated. Flowers greenish., with the altitude c. 1900 m, the date August 2nd, 1971 and the grid reference VT 70 20 with the coordinates 50°40′ E, 33°35′ N. It is signed Collected by J.R. Edmondson, number 833.[3] The catalogue gives the locality, the habitat Irrigated area; cultivated. and the coordinates, and has no altitude.[1] The infobox stores the label's coordinates at two decimals; they fall in Isfahan Province.
Specimen and identification
The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L., and the catalogue determines it the same way.[1] A revision slip of the Natural History Museum, Vienna, printed for Flora Iranica and dated 1977 in Karl Heinz Rechinger's name, reads Est!, confirming the name.[3] Edinburgh publishes the sheet image under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence.[3]
