Birere Sativa 2020 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that East Africa Genes sells under the name Birere Sativa, a line from Uganda that it also advertises as a landrace sativa smelling of kerosene.[1][2] The line has been on the seller's catalogue since its earliest archived version, of August 2020.[3]

Geography

The catalogue calls Birere "an eastern town near Lake Victoria", where most cannabis is grown between maize plantings and the main occupations are fishing and subsistence farming.[1] The seller's 2023 advert also places Birere in eastern Uganda, close to Lake Victoria.[2] Its 2024 advert instead calls Birere a small town in western Uganda, close to the border with Rwanda.[4]

History

The seller wrote that in 2019 it sold seed of the line to a grower in California, who used Birere pollen on a female plant of another line.[2]

Cultivation Details

The catalogue says the line matures after five months in the East African climate; its figure for "Indoor Vegetation & Flowering" is 16 to 18 weeks.[1]

Botanical Characteristics

The catalogue describes dark green buds. The seller's 2024 advert calls the line highly resinous.[1][4]

Aroma

The seller describes a heavy kerosene smell, in the buds and on the foliage once the plant comes into flower, with sour and fruity notes.[2][4][1]

Effects

The seller says the effect is slow to start, cerebral and long-lasting.[1][2]
