Bjørnland 356 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Ban Pong Noi in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand, on 21 September 1978. It was collected by Bjørnland and Schumacher and recorded on a form headed Herbalism in Northern Thailand. The Forest Herbarium (BKF) in Bangkok holds the sheet as accession BKF 77235, barcode SN 009246.[1]
Collection and locality
The sheet carries a printed form headed Herbalism in Northern Thailand (Brun/Bjørnland/Schumacher 1978/79). It gives the locality as Cangwat Chiang Mai; Amphoe Muang, Ban Pong Noi at 350 m, the date as 21/9 1978 and the collection number as 356, collected by Bjørnland/Schumacher.[2] Two handwritten slips repeat the number and the date.[2]
Recorded local name and use
The form gives the vernacular name as kanchaa. Under Medical use (as part of mixed drug) it records stimulant; under the parts of the plant used, leaves; and under preparation and administration, dried, smoked as inhalant. It names the informant as Pradit.[2]
One slip adds for Smoking, both male and female. The other gives the use as Smoked and the part of the plant as whole plant, both ♂ & ♀. Both refer to 15/8-list: 467.[2] The catalogue's note reads Medical use for stimulant; used dried leaves to smoked as inhalant.[1]
Specimen and identification
The form gives the identity as Cannabis sativa L. in the family Cannabinaceae and leaves the determiner blank.[2] Its line Voucher specimen for chemical analyses: YES/NO is not marked either way.[2] The catalogue records the plant as Cannabis sativa L.[1]
