Anon. s.n., Akyrtobe is a herbarium accession of cannabis gathered in a broad hollow between sand ridges at Akyr-Tyube, today's Akyrtobe, in the Moyynkum desert, in Jambyl Region, Kazakhstan, on 14 June 1934. Its label names no collector. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0818732.[1]
Collection and locality
The label is a small piece of torn brown paper written in pencil and stamped over by the herbarium, Herbarium Universitatis Mosquensis (MW). It reads N 140, Cannabis sativa L., then a struck-out mark and ruderalis?, Муюн-Кумы. Акыр-Тюбе (Muyun-Kum [sands], Akyr-Tyube), В широкой ложбине между песчаными грядами. (in a broad hollow between sand ridges) and 14/VI-34 г.[2] It names neither collector nor determiner, and N 140 is not explained. The catalogue records no collector, date or locality for the sheet.[1] Akyrtobe is a village and railway station on the southern edge of the Moyynkum sands.
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries one slender plant with its roots.[2] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L. and adds ruderalis with a question mark; the catalogue files it as Cannabis sativa L. No later determination slip is on the sheet.[2][1]
