Anders 11036 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in the surroundings of Chalas, in the Deagal valley of the province its label calls Konar, Afghanistan, at 1,600 to 1,700 metres on 30 August 1973 by Olaf Anders. The Natural History Museum, Vienna holds the sheet as W 1997-0005275.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The label, in Vienna's transcription, reads Konar, Deagal Darrah, Umgebung von Chalas, 1600-1700 m, that is, the Deagal valley, in the surroundings of Chalas, with the date 30 August 1973 and the collector's number 11036.[1] A village named Chalas lies in the Chawkay district of Kunar Province.[3]
Specimen and identification
Anders determined the plant to the genus Cannabis. Karl Heinz Rechinger redetermined it Cannabis sativa subsp. indica in 1976, and the sheet is filed under that name.[1] The catalogue notes that leaf tissue was removed from the sheet for DNA analysis for C. F. Grassa in 2018.[1]
