Alexandrov s.n. is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered on hemp patches near the hamlet of Kokuy, in the Verkholensk uezd of the Irkutsk governorate, today in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, on 29 July 1911 by P. Alexandrov. The Irkutsk State University Herbarium holds the sheet as IRKU032534.[1]
Collection and locality
The printed label is that of the herbarium of the museum of the East Siberian Section of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society in Irkutsk. It carries the number 804 and the name Cannabis sativa L. by hand, the printed place Иркутская губ., Верхоленский у., с. Бирюлька. (Irkutsk governorate, Verkholensk uezd, the village of Biryulka), and by hand Ок. дер. Кокуя, на коноплянниках (near the hamlet of Kokuy, on hemp patches); the date is 1911. VII, 29 and the collector's name is printed, П. Александров.[2] A коноплянник is a patch of ground sown with hemp. The catalogue gives the collector and the date, with no locality or point.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries two tall stems: one leafy, with long narrow leaflets, and one with dense flowering branches.[2] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L., the name under which the catalogue files it; no later determination slip is on the sheet.[2][1]
