Identification
The Commons record gives the map as 'Map of southern India showing the route taken by Francis Buchanan Hamilton', from volume 2 of A Journey from Madras through the Countries of Mysore, Canara and Malabar (1807). Its legend reads 'The Parts ordered to be investigated are coloured: Those belonging to the Mysore Raja Yellow; Those acquired by the E.I.C. by the Treaty of Seringapatam Red; The Province of Malabar Blue'.
