Inline tag flagging a sentence that runs two or more independent clauses together without adequate punctuation or subordination, including comma splices and fused sentences. Renders as a superscript [run-on sentence] linking to the style guidance page.
Usage
Place immediately after the sentence in question, with no space.
Cultivation persists across the belt and the cultivators are predominantly Rajbanshi they have worked these plots for generations.{{Run on sentence}}
With an optional date:
{{Run on sentence|date=May 2026}}
Parameters
date— optional. Month and year the tag was added, shown as a muted suffix.
When to use
- A sentence joins independent clauses with only a comma (comma splice).
- Two or more complete sentences run together with no punctuation between them (fused sentence).
- A sentence chains so many clauses that the reader loses the thread.
When not to use
- A long sentence that is correctly punctuated and reads clearly. Length alone is not a fault.
- Deliberate stylistic constructions in quoted source material. Do not tag inside a direct quotation.
- Prose that needs a citation or reads as synthesis rather than a grammatical fault. Use
{{Citation needed}}or{{Original research}}instead.
