Vibes Collective is an Organisation, a prose entity page. It documents the collective itself. The seed lines its members keep are documented as Accessions; the article lists them by query rather than by hand.

Sourcing

Almost everything known about this collective comes from its own archived website and from its members' forum posts, most of them written years after the site closed. Discuss attribution, independent sourcing and any claim that has migrated into the wiki's own voice here.

Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The article rests on three kinds of source, each attributed in the sentence that carries it:

vibescollective.org as held by the Wayback Machine: captures from 26 February 2007 to December 2009 of the forum's login pages, the front page, the About page, the wiki and the strainguide, with the forum's notice of 16 December 2009 and a domain-sale page of April 2010. The 25 archived landrace entries, numbered from 2 to 35, were read. The forum's boards asked for a login and were not read.
Posts by members on ICMag and Overgrow, 2011 to 2026, in English and French: Roms, Mustafunk, SillyCone and jahgreenlabel, with a report by Rahan that Roms reposted. ICMag refuses scripted access, so its threads were read in a browser on 18 September 2026 and saved as text where the Wayback Machine had no copy.
Sellers' listings: Swami Organic Seed (live and archived) and Kwik Seeds.

No independent coverage of the collective was found: no news report, no Wikipedia article and no peer-reviewed paper names it. The wiki's citation rule bars forums and breeder catalogues as evidence for ethnobotanical or historical claims. Here they are cited as evidence of what the collective's site, its members and the sellers say. The article does not state in its own voice where or when any seed was collected.

Editorial treatment

Title. Vibes Collective, the form in the site's page titles and in its footer, "© 2006 Vibes Collective". The site also signed as "The Vibes Collective crew" and "The Vibes Collective Team". Proposed redirect: The Vibes Collective. Members' short forms: VibesCollective, Vibesco, Vibe Co and Vibes Co.
Tense. The article puts the community in the past tense and the seed lines in the present. The site's own notice closed the forum in December 2009. Members still use the name for lines they keep.
Pronouns. The article uses none. Members are named by the handles they post under.
Silly and SillyCone. Mustafunk writes "Silly"; Roms and the site write "SillyCone". The article keeps each source's form. Setting their founding accounts against each other assumes that the two names are one person, which no source states.
Who counts as a member. The article cites Roms, Mustafunk and SillyCone, who write as members. It also cites Rahan's report as Roms reposted it and jahgreenlabel, whom Roms describes as having become a member. The notice of December 2009 is the collective's own.
Personal details. A post in the French thread names where a member used to work. Neither it nor other posts about members' private lives are reproduced in the article or here.
Claims against named sellers. Members name several seed companies that, in their view, used the collective's lines without credit. The article does not repeat these claims. Its account of the Swami Organic Seed listing rests on the listing itself and on the words of the member who replied to it.
French quotations. The references carry the French text of each post with the wiki's own English translation in the translated-quote field. The article's prose paraphrases them and puts nothing translated inside quotation marks.
Links. Linked: Landrace Cannabis, Jamaica, Rastafari, Malawi, Kwik Seeds and The Real Seed Company. Jamaica, Rastafari, Malawi and Kwik Seeds are redlinks already used by live pages; no new redlink is minted. Left unlinked: Kingston, Trenchtown, Martinique and the Blue Mountains, which have no page and none planned. The people named in the Lambsbread story are also unlinked. Source discrepancies

Each divergence is quoted as the source gives it; French is followed by the wiki's own translation in brackets. The article reports the sources' own words, attributed; it does not choose between them.

Who founded the collective

Roms, ICMag, 7 March 2018: "C'est SillyCone qui avait créé le site avec Rahan" (it was SillyCone who had created the site with Rahan).
SillyCone, ICMag, 2 June 2026: "j'avais monté le Vibes avec Rahan" (I had set up the Vibes with Rahan).
Roms, Overgrow, 6 February 2023: "the Vibes collective was born thanks to Rahan, Kanza and Sillycone for the php work".
Mustafunk, ICMag, 25 August 2018: "Le Vibes Collective a été fondée à l'origine par Kanza Kaya et Rahan... Silly les a aidés à monter le web" (the Vibes Collective was originally founded by Kanza Kaya and Rahan... Silly helped them set up the website).

How long the community lasted and why it ended

The Wayback Machine's first capture is of 26 February 2007. The homepage footer of September 2007 reads "© 2006 Vibes Collective"; the strainguide's line of 2009 reads "Copyright © 2006-2009 SillyCone for The Vibes Collective".
DrStrangelove, on the French forum FCF, 8 January 2009: "Il est down depuis quelques temps" (it has been down for some time). The Wayback Machine has no working capture from December 2008 to February 2009. Working captures resume in March 2009 and run to December 2009, which alone has 222.
The forum's notice of 16 December 2009 gives the reason as the domain: "it happened to be impossible to keep our current DNS". Its English text says "the forum will disappear the next 3rd Janauary"; its French text says "le forum et le site vont fermer le 3 janvier" (the forum and the site will close on 3 January).
Roms, Overgrow, 2023: "Sadly ten years alive community." In the same thread Roms gives the theft and sale of lines as "partly why our free community was closed".
Mustafunk, ICMag, 2020: "the Collective precisely collapsed because only a few were doing the hard work while others took advantage and became too self-centered".

Where the Jamaican Lambsbread came from

Roms, ICMag, 5 April 2018: "Elle fut transmise à GrowDan des mains de Bushman de la communauté de Trenchtown à Kingston" (it was passed to GrowDan from the hands of Bushman of the Trenchtown community in Kingston).
Roms, as quoted by another member on ICMag, 2 August 2020: "our JLB VibesCollective's line comes from the true old Rasta community from Trenchtown in Kingston".
Roms, in an undated post quoted by Mustafunk on 3 August 2020: "this line Lambsbread was collected backstage on Bushman's concert by a french rasta lover called GrowDan few years ago".
Roms, Overgrow, 6 February 2023: "the seeds that Dan collected with the singer Bushman on a backstage concert in Martinique".
Rahan's report, undated, reposted by Roms on 6 February 2023: "This one was gifted to our small collective last year. It comes straight from rasta communities in the Carribean."
Mustafunk, ICMag, 3 August 2020: "This was originally a present from Bushman to GrowDan and the other members".

Hashpants, Overgrow, 20 April 2024, asked whether a plant came from Upstate's reproduction: "it said 1968 Vibes collective". Roms replied that the seed probably came from the grower ChiefOrganic and was an F6, "parallel of mines from @OvergrowDaWorld’s F5".
Swami Organic Seed: "1960's Vibes Collective Lambsbread Heirloom". Kwik Seeds: "1970s Jamaican Lambsbread" (Double Jam) and "70s Jamaican Lambsbread x Hawaiian Maui Wowie" (Island Time, whose listing does not name the collective).

Generations of the Lambsbread

Roms, ICMag, 5 April 2018: "Ici c'est une des mères sélectionnées pour la repro F4 Lambsbread (2010/11?)." (here is one of the mothers selected for the F4 Lambsbread reproduction (2010/11?).) The next day Roms wrote of jahgreenlabel's "repro F5" (F5 reproduction).
Roms, Overgrow, 6 February 2023: "Another parallel F4 repro by Jahgreenlabel with Rahan’s F3 too." The same post reaches Roms's "fresh F7".
Upstate, Overgrow, 26 June 2023: "At F8 or F9 the Vibes work with this Lambsbread represents 4-5 YEARS work/ love growing just one lineage".

Whether the pure line is sold

Roms, ICMag, 5 April 2018: "Un deal entre rasta à la seule condition qu'elle ne génère jamais d'argent!!!" (a deal between Rastas on the sole condition that it never generate money!!!). The same post, of seed another company was selling: "je ne savais pas que la Lambsbread était en vente!!" (I didn't know the Lambsbread was on sale!!).

Chara, Overgrow, 26 June 2023: "Looks like Swami just released a pure 1960’s Lambsbread for $200 on his website". The live page gives $100.00, as do the archived copies of the listing that show a price, from June 2024 to May 2026.
herbgreen, Overgrow, 8 July 2023, names a person said to be selling the line. The name is not reproduced here.
jahgreenlabel, ICMag, 25 November 2025: "$100 for seeds I was giving away by the thousands, for free, lol."

The Jamaican Blue Mountain line

Strainguide: "Collected in 1984 in the Blue Mountains, preserved since then in Spain".
Mustafunk, ICMag, 10 April 2018, of the line Charlie Garcia had: "the Jamaican Blue Mountain '85 they used to have in the past". Mustafunk, 25 August 2018, among lines kept: "JBM85".

Strainguide entries

Two entries carry the name. "N'iakoy" (no. 28) holds the 2004 history and the map position "12,16,4", which OpenStreetMap places in Chari-Baguirmi, Chad. "n'iakoy (Ojos Rojos)" (no. 19) gives only a flowering time and the position "14.34,-17.29,4", a point in the sea about 35 km off Mbour, Senegal. The two points are 3,611 km apart. Checked on 18 September 2026.
Indian Mumbaï Mitai is placed at "18.975,72.826", in Mumbai. Heirloomwizard, Overgrow, 2 September 2024, of Rahan's Mumbai Mitai: "originally sourced and shared by a guy called Gelato, who told me the seeds were sourced in Andra Pradesh state".

The opening post of the Overgrow thread

Roms's post of 6 February 2023, the article's source for "early 2000", the Martinique account and the generation sequence, is at version 7. It was last edited on 7 September 2026 and its edit history is not public. The wording cited is the version read on 18 September 2026; what it said in 2023 cannot be checked.

Accessions

No accession yet names the Vibes Collective as its seed storage location. The article's query uses the value Vibes Collective; the proposed holder code is VIB.

Candidates, with what the sources give:

Jamaican Lambsbread, the collection: seed obtained by GrowDan from Bushman. The place (Trenchtown in Kingston or a concert in Martinique) and the year (early 2000, 1960, 1968 or the 1970s) are disputed; see above.
Jamaican Lambsbread, reproductions: Rahan's F2 and F3; an F4 by Volcanik and Upok, dated 2010 or 2011; jahgreenlabel's F4 or F5; OvergrowDaWorld's F5; Roms's F6, F7 and P7. Under the lineage split each dated reproduction is its own accession. By Roms's account of 2023, Roms's current seed was rebuilt from seed shared with friends after the loss of Roms's collection in 2018.
Strainguide entries with an origin or a date: Jamaican Blue Mountains (1984, "preserved since then in Spain"), N'iakoy (acquired 2004), Panama Red 1974, Sri Lanka Sativa and African Goblin (Malawi). The entries are members' reports. None says that the collective held seed of it.
Lines Mustafunk listed as kept in 2018: JBM85, Panama74, Chiang Mai Thai, South Indian, Vietnam Black, Malawi, Mullumbimby, Ethiopian and Swazi. The post gives no collector, place or year for any of them.
Crosses (Double Jam, Caribbean Dream, Jamzi, Island Time) are hybrids. Whether the wiki records them at all is an open call.

Not in the article

Growers' reports and grow diaries, including Rahan's account of the plant's traits.
Members' claims that named seed companies used the collective's lines without credit (ICMag, 2018 and 2020; Overgrow, 2023). Mustafunk's statements about one of those breeders differ between 2016 and 2018.
A list of strains said to come largely from the collective, sold in 2018; a member wrote "faut vraiment avoir faim pour vendre ça 3000$" (you must really be hungry to sell that for $3000). Roms wrote that the list came from the buyer. Nothing read names the seller.
Kwik Seeds' cross of a Dominican landrace to Double Jam. Kwik credits the Dominican parent to Dr Machel Emanuel, who, Roms wrote in May 2025, "will receive our Vibes Collective line for next Spring". They belong on accession pages if anywhere.
