Discussion

Name

  • Hamid places the Rastafari growers near Matelot, Toco and Cumana (p. 43). The title takes the two places at either end of that stretch of coast; neither alone covers it. Cumana lies just south of Toco.

Sources

  • Ansley Hamid, The Ganja Complex (2002): p. 42 (Rastafari villages of former city dealers), p. 43 (the forests near Matelot, Toco and Cumana) and p. 73 (a San Fernando Rastafari growing near Toco, mentioned in an account of December 1976 and after). The grower is not named on the page.
  • Fields since 2000: one police report in the Trinidad Guardian (Toco, 20 June 2023, for an operation on the Saturday before). It names the Toco district; the page gives no closer location.

Growing status

  • The status is Active, from the report of 2023. The infobox gives no first year: Hamid's account dates the growing to the 1970s without a year for this coast.

Map point

  • 10.8368, -60.9377 is the village of Toco as OpenStreetMap places it. It marks the area, not a field.

Plants

  • Hamid's book names no landrace or local variety, and the 2023 report gives the plants only by number and stage of growth.
