Evidentiary scope

The label describes the plant as Scattered in open area, uncommon, crop in garden and records it as Used for smoking, with the local name Kan cha (กัญชา, the Thai name for cannabis). It gives the place as P: Nakhon Srithamarat, Tab Chang, Khiri Wong, at 400 m, on 16 December 1951. Drug-type cannabis from different regions began to be cross-bred, and its seed carried into old growing areas, in the 1970s (McPartland and Small 2020, pp. 84–85), so a hybrid origin is not considered for a sheet gathered in 1951. The accession is classified Landrace, by inference from the label. The sheet does not show what became of the crop or whether its seed survives, and no conservation priority is assigned.

The sheet does not by itself connect the 1951 plant with the seed accession collected at Kiriwong in 2025, ZOM-THA-SOU-0420253001. The article names that accession as a pointer only.

Georeferencing

The labels name Khiri Wong (คีรีวง) and Thap Chang (ทับช้าง). OpenStreetMap maps the village of Ban Khiriwong in Lan Saka District (node/4894896975); Thap Chang was not found. The infobox georeferences the village at 8.43, 99.78.

The village stands at 59 m on SRTM. The label gives 400 m. Either the gathering was made on ground about 340 m above the village centre, or the altitude on the label is wrong; the label does not settle which. The point is a locality point for the place the label names, not a collection point. It places the gathering to within about 5 km.

Editorial treatment

The later label types Tab Chang; the older label and the catalogue give Thap Chang (ทับช้าง). The locality field uses the label's spelling Khiri Wong. Kiriwong is both a growing area and a locality. The infobox therefore stores the growing area as Kiriwong, the value ZOM-THA-SOU-0420253001 uses. The article links that title.

The height, 30 cm, is given as the label and the catalogue give it.

The older label's collector line gives a Thai given name that is not transcribed here. The collector field uses the later label's P. Suvarnakoses.

The infobox image is the Forest Herbarium's own scan of SN 009261, which the herbarium publishes with all rights reserved. It is used under fair use, with the rationale on its file page.
