Border
The border is the part of the municipality of Santa Marta (OpenStreetMap relation 1314687; DIVIPOLA code 47001) that lies inside the border of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta growing area, which follows ground at or above 200 metres. It is simplified and covers about 1,790 km², 76% of the municipality; the town and the coastal plain lie outside. The point in the infobox is a point inside the border, not a field.
Sources
- The status is Active: the eradication dataset lists marijuana eradicated in the municipality from 2007 to 2020, and the army and police reported fields in Guachaca in 2019 and at Altos de Jolonura in 2020.
- The Ministry of Defence's eradication dataset lists, for Santa Marta with crop type marihuana: 400 rows, 22 November 2007 to 30 July 2020, 311.25 hectares (downloaded 20 October 2026). The figures on the page are sums of those rows.
- The 1952 farm was "near Santa Marta"; the report does not say whether it lay in the mountains. In the sources the name Santa Marta Gold belongs to the marijuana of the Sierra as a whole, not to this municipality; it is given as a trade name, with its sources.
- Minca and Guachaca are placed in Santa Marta by the ombudsman's alert 045-18 (pp. 5, 19); the 2019 reports name Guachaca, not the municipality. The Miramar plot (September 2019) held coca as well as marijuana; both counts are given. Altos de Jolonura is placed in "the rural part of the city" by Santa Marta Al Día, which names no corregimiento.
- Not used: collection and drying sites near Minca (2015, 2018) and in Bonda (2014), which name no crop; a seedbed of 858 plants in Guachaca reported in an undated armed forces bulletin, which calls Guachaca a municipality; Colombia Reports (2020) on police seizing farmers' marijuana in Guachaca, a summary that names no study; two medicinal-cannabis licences held by companies of Santa Marta in 2018 (El Heraldo), whose growing site is not stated; the INDERENA report of 1986 on the river valleys (cited on the growing area page).
