Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The catalogue gives a place, a month, the plant's sex and height. It records no habitat, no use and no note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
No point is given. Banji was not found on Unguja or Pemba in OpenStreetMap or Nominatim (also tried: Bandji, Mbanji and names containing Bang), and Zanzibar alone names both Zanzibar City (OpenStreetMap node 3320526612) and the island of Unguja.
Editorial treatment
Collector. English Wikipedia's Charles Sacleux (1856–1943), a French Catholic missionary and linguist who collected a herbarium of over 2,000 plants in East Africa and Zanzibar, fits the catalogue's Sacleux, C.; the page gives the catalogue's initial only.
Date. The catalogue gives February 1890; the field stores the month.
Image. No image of the sheet was read for this page; its values are the holder's catalogue's. The museum's image of the sheet is published under CC BY 4.0 but could not be retrieved for this page (GBIF's image cache does not hold it, and the museum's own server refused the connection); the label has not been read.

The sheet's label: it may spell the place differently from the catalogue's Banji and carry Sacleux's own notes.
These notes were recorded during accession preparation. Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 07:26, 16 October 2026 (+07)
