Evidentiary scope
The catalogue gives the label's text, in Vienna's transcription, as in declivibus australibus jugi Narai Kotal (on the southern slopes of the Narai Kotal ridge) in Khost, at 1900 m, and the habitat as in quercetis (Qu. baloot) (in oak woods of Quercus baloot), on 5 June 1967. The label names a woodland habitat and no cultivation. It names no use or local name. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label, as the catalogue transcribes it. The label does not show whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because the label names oak woodland, not a weed habitat, and does not say whether the plants were wild, escaped or sown.
Label reading
No image of the sheet is published: JACQ's image service has none for it, and GBIF lists no media. The label has therefore not been read here. The article quotes Vienna's own transcription of it, the catalogue's Label field, and says so.
Georeferencing
No coordinate is asserted, although the label prints one. At the printed point, 33°36′ N, 70°05′ E, the SRTM 30-metre elevation is 1,436 metres, about 460 metres below the label's 1,900 metres. The only gazetteer object for the name, the Kotal-e Naraī pass in GeoNames (1132330), lies 16 kilometres north-west of the printed point at 2,323 metres. The point and the altitude cannot both be right, and the label does not say which to trust. The province field takes Khost Province, under which the catalogue files the sheet; the pass in GeoNames is in Paktia.
Editorial treatment
The elevation field takes the label's 1,900 metres, which is also the altitude in the catalogue's own field. The locality field takes the label's ridge name. The scientific name field takes the name the sheet is filed under. The collector's full name in the article is the person Vienna's catalogue links the collector to (Wikidata Q78738, Karl Heinz Rechinger).
The sheet was sampled in 2018 for Christopher J. Grassa's herbarium-genomics project; the catalogue's note reads Leaf tissue removed for DNA for C.F. Grassa 2018. None of the 1,444 public BioSamples of Cannabis sativa whose voucher field names a herbarium sheet (NCBI, read in early October 2026) names this sheet's catalogue number, so no sequence data is listed in the infobox.
