Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The label places cannabis on the road between Chigha Sarai and Kandai in July 1965. It names no habitat, use or local name, so the accession is classified Other. No conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
No image of the sheet is published: JACQ's image service has none for it, and GBIF lists no media. The label has therefore not been read here. The article quotes Vienna's own transcription of it, the catalogue's Label field, and says so.
Georeferencing
No coordinate is asserted. The label's two printed points are about 35 kilometres apart, and the gathering lies somewhere on the way between them, with no altitude to place it. The printed Chigha Sarai point lies 1.9 kilometres from Asadabad (GeoNames 1148311), and the printed Kandai point 4.1 kilometres from Kanday (GeoNames 1138321), the seat of a district in Kunar. The province field takes Kunar Province, where both now lie; the label's Prov. Nangarhar is the province of 1965.
Editorial treatment
The locality field quotes the label's span. The scientific name field takes the name the sheet is filed under. The University of Zurich holds an unnumbered Rechinger sheet of 1965 (ZT-00142973) with the same locality text. Its collector number is partly hidden in its image, so it is not called a duplicate of this gathering. The collector's full name in the article is the person Vienna's catalogue links the collector to (Wikidata Q78738, Karl Heinz Rechinger).
The sheet was sampled in 2018 for Christopher J. Grassa's herbarium-genomics project; the catalogue's note reads Leaf tissue removed for DNA for C.F. Grassa 2018. None of the 1,444 public BioSamples of Cannabis sativa whose voucher field names a herbarium sheet (NCBI, read in early October 2026) names this sheet's catalogue number, so no sequence data is listed in the infobox.
