Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Nepali Highland #2, read live on 7 October 2026 and in four archived versions from June 2025 to May 2026; the Kwik Seeds listing, read live and in four archived versions; and RSC's post of 3 December 2025 on Nepali Highland. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listing dates the lot to 2024 and places it in "Nepal Himalaya". It names no village, province or farmer. It establishes that RSC distributes seed of this population from that year. It does not establish where it was grown. Éloise 03:40, 8 October 2026 (+07)

Georeferencing

Inferred. The listing gives a latitude of about 28° N and no place. The coordinate is the one used for Nepali Highland (Talk:RSC-NPL-GAN-0120240002): the midpoint of Gandaki Province's extent along 28.00° N (OpenStreetMap relation 10489605), 28.00, 84.20, applied here because the listing says the seed came from the same region as that line. It is an inference, not a collection site. The province is entered for the same reason and rests on RSC's post about the other listing, not on this one. Éloise 03:40, 8 October 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

  • Accession ID. RSC-NPL-GAN-0120240003, the next serial after RSC-NPL-GAN-0120240002. The year is 2024 on every archived version. The month digits are 01.
  • Name. The listing's title is Nepali Highland #2 on all archived versions.
  • Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself.
  • Growth pattern. "Crazy bushy semidwarf Sativa type" is entered as Bushy. The "Sativa-type" convention of other RSC pages, Christmas tree, is not used because the listing describes a bushy habit.
  • Leaf shape. Not entered; the listing does not say narrow-leafleted. It says the line suits tropical latitudes and may be finicky indoors, which does not state a photoperiod response.
  • Viability. Not entered: "around 80 per cent" does not fall clearly on either side of the threshold used for the other RSC pages.
  • Height. Not entered; the listing gives none.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them. Éloise 03:40, 8 October 2026 (+07)

Conservation priority

High. As for Nepali Highland: one highland region, an unconfirmed origin, and seed from RSC alone. RSC states no conservation priority. The ratings follow the wiki's accession definitions: Critical rare, from a single farmer or micro-population; High limited population, few sources; Medium moderate population, multiple sources known; Low common, broadly available within its range. Éloise 03:40, 8 October 2026 (+07)

Source discrepancies

  • Same type as the first listing. The listing of June 2025 says RSC had not confirmed with certainty that these seeds were the same semidwarf landrace; the listing of October 2025 says they "are confirmed" to be the same type "as shown in the photo".
  • Sourcing line. "Nepal Himalaya, 2024 Harvest" until June 2025; "Nepal Himalaya (2024)" from October 2025. Nepali Highland still reads "2024 Harvest".
  • Photograph. The listing showed the same photograph as Nepali Highland in June 2025 and shows a different one, dated by its file name 13 September 2024, from October 2025. The October 2025 text refers to it as "the photo".
  • Origin of the type, and growers' reports. See Talk:RSC-NPL-GAN-0120240002: RSC's December 2025 account of eastern Bengal, the September 2024 post's mention of Makwanpur, and the growers' height reports apply to Nepali Highland by name and are not repeated here as facts about this lot.

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds four versions of the RSC listing (12 June 2025, 8 October 2025, 9 February 2026 and 14 May 2026) and four of the Kwik Seeds listing (16 June 2025 to 15 April 2026). All were read.

  • June 2025. The sourcing "2024 Harvest", "Newly collected", the caution that RSC had not confirmed the type, the "at least three recognizable types" passage, five months to harvest.
  • From 8 October 2025. The current text, six months to harvest, and the new photograph. The versions of June and October 2025 are cited in the article. Éloise 03:40, 8 October 2026 (+07)

Lineage

The title is Nepali Highland #2 on all four archived RSC versions (12 June 2025 to 14 May 2026) and all four Kwik Seeds versions, so one lot has been on sale and the page is not split. The slug nepali-highland-2 follows the base slug nepali-highland, which holds Nepali Highland; it is a numbered separate listing, not a later version of it. RSC does not say how the two lots differ. USDA genebank accessions

G 34116 is named Nepali Highland #2 on GRIN, in the donation of 3 August 2026. It is not listed on this page, for the reasons given on Talk:RSC-NPL-GAN-0120240002: the donor describes bought seed of unknown origin, and the GRIN number is the donor's batch number, not RSC's. Photographs

The infobox image is the listing's only photograph, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The listing gives no caption, but its text of October 2025 onward refers to it as "the photo" of the semidwarf type. The file name dates the picture to 13 September 2024.
