Discussion
Coordinate approximation
RSC gives a regional latitude anchor of 15° N but no precise collection point. Coordinates entered as 14.8800° N, 105.8700° E, approximating the centre of Champasak District. Éloise 14:10, 17 April 2026 (+07)
Growth pattern inferred from "Sativa architecture"
RSC describes the plants as having "Sativa architecture" without specifying growth habit in controlled-vocabulary terms. Mapped to "Christmas tree" as a working inference consistent with narrow-leafleted tropical Sativa morphology. This mapping remains a provisional convention across RSC accessions and has not been directly confirmed. Éloise 14:10, 17 April 2026 (+07)
Conservation priority: High (rationale)
The accession page records the priority as "High" without spelling out the reasoning. The basis for this is two compounding pressures on Lao landrace cannabis populations, namely enforcement intensification following the China-Laos Railway (December 2021) and the collapse in demand for Lao ganja following the 2022 legalization in Thailand. RSC itself does not assign a conservation status. Éloise 14:10, 17 April 2026 (+07)
Source attribution: "Thai Stick" framing
The RSC listing's "Thai Stick" reference is editorial positioning, not a documented genealogical claim tying this Champasak population to the 1960s–1970s Thai export trade. Captured in the Notes section with appropriate distance. Éloise 14:10, 17 April 2026 (+07)
Source attribution: indoor documentation
The "pre-flowering at four weeks under 11/13 light cycle" detail comes from a customer photo caption on the RSC listing, not RSC's direct documentation. Included in Botanical Characteristics with attribution framing ("customer photograph referenced by RSC"). Éloise 14:10, 17 April 2026 (+07)
Evidentiary scope
This pass compared the article with the current RSC listing and with the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings name the district of Champasak and a Lao household. They give no village. The narrow leaflets and resinous buds are RSC's description of the landraces of the region, not of this accession alone. The notes above on conservation priority and the "Thai Stick" framing still apply. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)
Georeferencing
The coordinate recorded above, 14.8800° N, 105.8700° E, lies at Sikeut village, Champasak District (OpenStreetMap reverse lookup). It is now entered as 14.88, 105.87, the two-decimal precision the wiki's privacy policy calls for; the point itself is unchanged. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)
Editorial treatment
Conform pass of 16 September 2026. The article was rewritten so that each statement is attributed to one of the listings, with CS1 citations.
- Corrected: the article described the customer photograph as showing "pre-flowering onset at four weeks". The listing says only that it shows the landrace "indoors at 4 weeks under an 11/13 light cycle".
- Corrected: Isan was called "the cannabis-producing region of northeast Thailand"; the listing calls it "Isan, northeast Thailand". Isan now links to Northeastern Thailand.
- Processing notes changed to "Sinsemilla or semi-sensi", the purpose line of this listing. The previous value came from other RSC listings.
- Aroma changed to "Powerful, tropical", as the listing gives it.
- Attributed: the narrow leaflets and resinous buds, which the listing gives for the region's landraces generally.
Narrowis kept in the infobox on that basis. The collector reference in the prose is removed; the infobox value is unchanged. PhotoperiodShort-dayand introgressionMinimalfollow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them. Éloise 23:19, 16 September 2026 (+07)
Source discrepancies
- Collection. Kwik Seeds calls the accession "newly collected"; RSC does not.
- Only on RSC. The customer photograph note and a link to an offer for another accession.
- Only on Kwik Seeds. A link to RSC's Instagram.
- Archived versions. The Wayback Machine holds six versions of the RSC listing, from July 2024 to April 2026. All were read, and all give the 2024 sourcing. "Classification: Cannabis sativa subsp. indica var. indica" appears from July 2024 to April 2025. The July 2024 version opens "A ganja landrace from the Mekong region of southern Laos", where Kwik Seeds has "A newly collected ganja landrace". The note on the customer photograph first appears in October 2025. The article cites the versions of 14 July 2024 and 25 April 2025. Éloise 02:50, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Photographs
The infobox image is the listing's only photograph. RSC describes it as a customer photo of the landrace indoors at four weeks under an 11/13 light cycle, and the caption now says so. The gallery adds the photograph of seed that only the Kwik Seeds listing carries, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. Éloise 02:50, 17 September 2026 (+07)
