Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The catalogue gives a habit, Arbusto de 1 m, and the name Marihuana. The label, read on a photograph, is a printed teaching form of the Universidad de Pamplona's Departamento de Ciencias Básicas, and adds a temperature of 17 °C and Usos: Alucinógenos (uses: hallucinogens). It says nothing about whether the plant was grown or grew of itself, or where it stood. The accession is classified Unknown. It does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
The point 7.37818, -72.65191 is the one the herbarium's catalogue publishes, with an uncertainty of 2,018 m, georeferenced in 2015 from the Codazzi 1:100,000 map. It falls in the town of Pamplona in OpenStreetMap. The label's locality, which the catalogue reads Plua, is not a place found under that spelling; the identification with Pamplona is the catalogue's, and the sheet's printed form is the Universidad de Pamplona's. The label's altitude of 2,460 m is 137 m above the SRTM elevation at the point (2,323 m). Basis: holder's georeference. Uncertainty: about 2 km.
Editorial treatment
Collector. The catalogue enters Pabón R.; on the photograph the collector line is hard to read. The collector field takes the catalogue's name in the initials form. The label also names the teacher in charge of the course; the page does not, as he is not the collector.
Locality. The locality field keeps the catalogue's reading, Plua, as written, and the province field the department the catalogue gives.
Local name. On the label a word before Marihuana is struck through and cannot be read on the photograph. The field takes marihuana.
Image. The image is a phone photograph of the sheet in the herbarium, at 800 × 1440 pixels; neither the herbarium's catalogue on GBIF nor any other portal publishes an image of it. Readings marked uncertain could not be settled at that resolution.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue reads the locality Plua and files it under Pamplona; the photograph does not settle the reading.
