Evidentiary scope
The accession rests on two sources: the department's printed inventory entry for plant introduction 42611 (Inventory No. 47 (1920), p. 37) and the entry for PI 42611 in GRIN-Global, the database of the National Plant Germplasm System, as it stood on 27 October 2026. The inventory names the nursery and the channel, and Iida's note names the Korean province the hemp was produced in. GRIN-Global states that the lot "no longer exists and can not be requested", so the page gives the lot as gone. No conservation priority is assigned.
Identifier
The identifier NPG-KOR-UNK-0019160001 follows the wiki's seed-accession grammar: holder, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month, year, sequence. The department's own number for the lot is PI 42611.
NPGstands for the National Plant Germplasm System of the United States Department of Agriculture, whose database, GRIN-Global, carries the department's plant introductions.KORis the ISO code for Korea.UNK: no province is recorded.- Month
00: the date the seed was gathered is not known. - Year 1916 is the year the department received the lot.
0001is the lot's place, in plant-introduction order, among the holder's lots from the same country, province, month and year.
Classification
Iida's note gives the hemp as produced in the province of Kangwon, which places it in the province's crop, so the accession is classified Landrace. Neither source names a village or a grower.
Collectors and donors
GRIN-Global lists the Yokohama Nursery Company Limited among its sources; the printed inventory says the seed was procured from the company. No one is said to have gathered it, so the infobox gives no collector.
Location and georeferencing
GRIN-Global gives the lot's origin as Kanagawa, Japan, the nursery's prefecture. The printed inventory's note says the hemp was produced in Kogen Do (Kang Won), the Korean province of Kangwon, and the page follows the note: the country is Korea. That province is the finest place named. It is now divided between Gangwon in South Korea and Kangwon in North Korea, so no province is entered, and the page has no point; the map is off.
Dates
The date the seed was gathered is not known, so the collection date is empty. Both sources give 2 May 1916 as the date of receipt, the lot's received date. The identifier therefore carries month 00 and the year of receipt, and the province segment UNK.
Country
The holder files this lot under Japan. The page gives Korea, where the printed note says the hemp was produced; Japan was only the country the nursery shipped from.
