Evidentiary scope
The accession rests on two sources: the department's printed inventory entry for plant introduction 24307 (Inventory No. 17 (1909), p. 42, with the consignment's heading on p. 37) and the entry for PI 24307 in GRIN-Global, the database of the National Plant Germplasm System, as it stood on 27 October 2026. The inventory gives the sender, the date and his note on the seed. GRIN-Global states that the lot "no longer exists and can not be requested", so the page gives the lot as gone. No conservation priority is assigned.
Identifier
The identifier NPG-CHL-UNK-0019080001 follows the wiki's seed-accession grammar: holder, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month, year, sequence. The department's own number for the lot is PI 24307.
NPGstands for the National Plant Germplasm System of the United States Department of Agriculture, whose database, GRIN-Global, carries the department's plant introductions.CHLis the ISO code for Chile.UNK: no province is recorded.- Month
00: the date the seed was gathered is not known. - Year 1908 is the year the department received the lot.
0001is the lot's place, in plant-introduction order, among the holder's lots from the same country, province, month and year.
Classification
The sender's note calls the seed the ordinary Chilean kind of hemp, grown widely in the country since its introduction in the sixteenth century. That places the lot in the country's established crop, so the accession is classified Landrace. The note does not say where in Chile the seed was grown.
Collectors and donors
GRIN-Global lists Husbands, Jose D. in its collector field. The printed inventory says the seeds were received through him and does not say he gathered them, so the infobox gives no collector.
Location and georeferencing
The sources name one place, Limávida, the sender's address in the inventory's heading. The sender's note calls the seed "the ordinary Chile sort" and does not say where it was grown, so the lot is Chilean seed from no stated place. The page gives no point: a point at Limávida would mark the consignor's address, not the seed's origin. An earlier version placed the lot at the Limávida hamlet in the commune of Curepto, Talca Province, Maule Region (OpenStreetMap node 6209652193) as a settlement point, about 3 km; that placing is withdrawn. No province is entered: the sources do not give one.
Dates
The date the seed was gathered is not known, so the collection date is empty. Both sources give 4 December 1908 as the date of receipt, the lot's received date. The identifier therefore carries month 00 and the year of receipt, and the province segment UNK.
