Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The catalogue gives a place and a year. It records no habitat, no use and no note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The point 30.46, 78.08 is the town of Mussoorie, OpenStreetMap node 245770206, in Dehradun District. The catalogue's near Mussourie places the gathering near the town, not in it, and the uncertainty allows a few kilometres beyond the town for that. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 5 km.

Editorial treatment

Collector. George King, later superintendent of the Calcutta botanic garden, was at the Saharanpur botanic garden until the end of 1869 (English Wikipedia); Kew and Melbourne hold other sheets of his from near Mussourie dated 1869. The collector field takes the catalogue's G. King.

Image. No image of the sheet was read for this page; its values are the holder's catalogue's. The Smithsonian publishes no image of it.
