Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The museum's catalogue transcribes the label as Flora der UdSSR. Loschok, an der Bahnlinie Novosibirsk-Tscherepanovo. (Flora of the USSR. Loshok, on the Novosibirsk-Cherepanovo railway line) and Waldsteppe, Trockenrasen. (forest-steppe, dry grassland), with the date July 1971. It gives no use and no note on cultivation. The label itself has not been seen. The plant grew on dry grassland, outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the catalogue; the catalogue does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population.

Label reading

Not read: the museum publishes no image of the sheet. The page reports the catalogue's fields as the museum gives them (re-read 12 October 2026): registration number S12-24461; collector E. Köhler & S. Nilsson; collection number 78; collection date 1971-07-23; label information Flora der UdSSR. Loschok, an der Bahnlinie Novosibirsk-Tscherepanovo. / Waldsteppe, Trockenrasen.; determination Cannabis sativa; country Russia, Asian; no coordinates, altitude, province or district.

Georeferencing

The point 54.56, 83.33 is the railway station of Lozhok (Ложок), OpenStreetMap node 1252104407, between Iskitim and Evsino on the line from Novosibirsk towards Cherepanovo, in the Novosibirsk Oblast. The catalogue's Loschok matches no place written Лошок; German spelling writes both ж and ш as sch, and Lozhok is the place of the name on this line. The Russian Wikipedia says it was founded in 1932 as a railway siding on the Inskaya-Srednesibirskaya line; it is now a district of Iskitim. Another hamlet called Lozhok, in Novosibirsky District 32 km away, is not on the line. SRTM gives 157 m; the catalogue gives no altitude. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 3 km.

Editorial treatment

Catalogue only. The accession is made from the catalogue alone, with no image; every fact on the page is the catalogue's, and the label may hold more than the catalogue transcribes.

Collectors. The collector field takes the catalogue's two names. Neither is linked: no source read for this page gives their full names.

Place. The locality takes Lozhok, the Russian name that the catalogue's German Loschok transcribes; the catalogue's form is given in the article.

These notes were recorded during accession preparation. Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 18:55, 12 October 2026 (+07)
