Discussion

Coordinates and elevation

  • The infobox point, 31.9964, 77.2454, is the OpenStreetMap village node "Jari" (node 540716992, postal_code 175105), near the Jari bus stop and the community health centre. SRTM gives 1,568 m there.
  • The infobox gives no elevation. The only figure in a source read is the 1917 gazetteer's 5,000 ft for the road stage (about 1,524 m), a rounded table value; the article gives it in prose.
  • The OSM node for Malana village lies about 7.4 km north of the Jari node in a straight line; the resurvey's 15 km is the road distance.

Administration

  • The 2011 census places Jari in Kullu sub-district and the Kullu community development block. The infobox admin_3 = Kullu Tehsil follows the census.
  • The district administration's site (2026) lists Jari as one of two sub-tehsils but does not say which tehsil it belongs to. Its gram panchayat list places Jari in the Kullu block and has no Bhuntar block heading, although the same site lists Bhuntar among its six development blocks. The Parvati Valley accessions store admin_3 = Bhuntar Tehsil and admin_4 = Bhuntar Block.

Source notes

  • The resurvey of Malana (2018) gives Jari as "15 kms" from Malana in §2.1 and §2.9 and as "16 kms" in §5.1.4. The article uses 15 km.
  • The 1897 gazetteer's "At Jari, the next stage, about 8 miles further up the river, there is a small rest-house" and the 1917 gazetteer's "the Malana joins the north bank of the Parbati at Jari" are quoted from the transcriptions used on the Kullu Valley page.
  • ETV Bharat's list of the places covered by the September 2022 Central Bureau of Narcotics operation contains "धारा जरी". It may name one place or two (Dhara and Jari) and is not identified with this village.
  • The census spreadsheet gives 664 Scheduled Caste and 30 Scheduled Tribe inhabitants; not used in the article.
  • A water-quality study of the Parvati (Sharma et al., 2021) has a sampling site "Malana Jari"; not used.
